As of yesterday afternoon, camp #2 is in the books!

It was a great week! The 154 kids who attended had a ton of fun playing games, learning English, hearing great sermons, and having awesome discussions.

I had a blast teaching English and hanging with the kids and I also had a great time bonding with the other camp counselors and staff as well. I had great conversations about God and spent some sweet time in prayer with a number of people last week…definitely was a huge blessing :)

THIS WEEK!

A new camp is starting as I type this: FishArt!!

This camp is focused on the arts: photography, drawing/painting, film, dancing, instrument lessons, and singing. I get to experience 2 days of the camp; I’m stoked to see what happens! :)

I take off on Tuesday to go to Krakow via train, and then I fly back home on Wednesday! (I get back late Wednesday night)

PRAYER REQUESTS:

- Pray that I’d be sensitive to God’s Spirit; that he’ll lead the way I spend the rest of my time on this trip

- Pray for all the kids (some are returning from last week, but there’s mostly new ones); pray that God would be moving in their hearts throughout the week

- Pray for the staff/counselors; that God would take them deeper in their relationship with him

So on Wednesday night, I asked you all to pray for the kids because we were going to give them an opportunity to make a decision to put their faith in Jesus and follow Him.

110 kids went forward.

That’s about 75% of all the kids that are here.

When told, “If you believe in Jesus and want to start a relationship with and live for Him, come toward the front of the stage”, kids streamed down the aisles. It was overwhelming and unbelievable to see.

Now I don’t want to get caught up in numbers and I’m sure that a lot of the kids went up because their friends went up and so they felt like it was the “cool” thing to do.

At the same time, however, God is undoubtedly moving in these kids’ lives and that’s a reason to give him praise! I’m confident that the Holy Spirit brought about conviction and that genuine decisions were made for Christ and that the love of God was felt by many.

Continue to pray for these kids.

- For their relationship with God; for them to continue to grow closer to him. For more love and passion for God in their life.

- For strength to face and stand strong against all the temptations this world has to offer them.

- For community: that God would surround them with people who can help grow them in their walks with Him.

this week has been AWESOME!!!!

Kids camp rocks! For real!!

It’s soooooooooo much different than last week (seriously, night and day!). Last week I was butt tired from playing, coaching, reffing, and hanging out all day! My body was absolutely exhausted and at times I felt so tired.

This week, I’ve actually got some sleep! I usually get to bed before midnight and wake up around 7 am (a solid 7-8 hours). I also get some free time during the day (so awesome), and I’m not running around 24/7 like I was last week.

It’s definitely been a nice change in gears :)

What I personally do

I’m an English teacher!

Here’s a picture of my class

I have 10 kids. They are all in the beginning class and their ages range from 8-10. We’ve done everything from practicing the alphabet, to learning names for sports, body parts, activities, dates, and more. I have an assistant that helps with translation for the lessons. The kids are great. They’re not too crazy or demon-possessed (praise the Lord). It’s a ton of fun :)

Here’s a rough schedule for a typical day from this week:

7:30 - Leader’s meeting — includes a devotional (someone from the group talks for 5-10 minutes about a verse or passage from the Bible that God put on their heart). About 30-40 group leaders/teachers/assistants come to this.

8:00 - Breakfast

9:15 - Large Group Meeting — features a lot of worship songs for kids, dancing. Someone also gives a message from the Bible

10:15 - Discussion groups — the kids split into their groups with their leaders and they talk about the message.

11:00 - English Class — the kids go to their English class (3 groups: beginners, intermediate, and advanced).

12:00 - Sports, rock climbing, or zip line

1:00 - Lunch

3:00 - English class — fun activity

3:45 - Clubs (dancing, choir, sports) or free time (games, more rock climbing/zip line)

4:30 - Free time

6:00 - Dinner

7:15 - Large Group Meeting - very similar to the morning session. Worship songs for kids, dancing, message

8:30 - Hang out. Free time. Snack shack.

9:30 - Kids return to cabin

10:00 - Lights out for kids/go to sleep

Leaders/staff/teachers can stay up and hang out til whenever.

So ya, there’s a little snapshot of what’s been happening this week.

I’ll get into more specifics later, but this will have to do for now :)

Truth #78: Rumors spread like wildfire when you let people borrow your phone and/or computer and they hijack your status on Facebook.

Last night, my Polish friend took my phone and changed my Facebook status (as seen above).

He then proceeded to get another one of my Polish friends in on it by doing the following:

Shout out to my bro in Christ Mr. Ryan Aczon from the Meatlocker in SLO: I got a good laugh from your post on my wall…

It did, indeed, escalate quickly: in less than 24 hours around 300 people liked or commented about that status! How crazy is that?!

Although it is pretty hilarious that a ton of people thought it was real (and that people I haven’t talked to for years commented about it), on a more serious note, this helped me recognize how blessed I am to have so many people in my life that love, care, support, and encourage me. I thank God for all y’all.

SURPRISE: POLAND.....PART 2 :)

Sooooooooo in our support letter, we said that our trip was going from July 27-August 6, and that we’d be doing basketball ministry.

This is true :)

Our group from church did, indeed, do basketball ministry.

And our trip (for our group from church) did, indeed, go from July 27-August 6.

However, what I didn’t mention is that I am staying in Poland another week and a half (until August 15). ;)

WHY DIDN’T I MENTION THAT?

#1 - Because it would have been confusing (and somewhat unnecessary) to try to fit in the support letter (I would have had to say that my bro and the church are going from July 27-August 6, and that I’d go from July 27-Aug 15 and that we’d be doing bball ministry and afterward I’d stay).

#2 - Because I had no clue what I was going to be doing during my extra time here

SO WHAT AM I DOING NOW?!

Proem is the ministry that organized the basketball camp we had last week. Basketball is not the only camp they put on though! They run camps all throughout the summer which include an all-sports camp, family fitness camp, FishArt camp (music, art, acting, etc), and….

ENGLISH CAMP!!

This week I will be teaching English!! (sidenote to my friends in SLO who have known me for a while: ironic huh?!! hehe).

The rest of this week (Tuesday through Friday) I will be teaching 2 English classes a day for kids ages 7-10 (a little different than playing basketball all day, every day with teenagers and young adults)

I’m pretty stoked :)
