Birthday Blessings
I turned 22 on Monday and by the end of the day I felt sooooo ridiculously blessed. I came here on this trip to be a blessing to other people, yet God’s use the people here to be such a blessing in my life.
I received 3 birthday presents those first couple days of camp.
First, at the beginning of camp, my friend Alex gave me a bag and said, “Here….it’s your gift!” It was a hat from Poland (you know I like my hats!!)! So sweet.
Later that night the Ukrainian guys who sleep right next door to us in the cabins invited me to eat with them. It was their Ukrainian coach’s birthday and so they had bought him a bunch of snacks and a full-on cake for our birthdays. Get this — instead of candles they lit sparklers on the cake!! It was sweet!
We ate for about 45 minutes and it was so sweet. They were super genuine and sincere in their conversation, and they welcomed me, asking me a lot of questions about myself and America. Near the end, one of the guys (a professional basketball player in Ukraine) gave a toast to me. It was awesome.
During dinner, another guy from Poland comes up to me and gives me a gift that’s all wrapped up . I open it up to find cologne (I’ve been meaning to get that too!)
Finally, for my Facebook status I had posted: “My birthday wish: instead of getting a billion comments saying happy birthday, post one of your favorite memories of us together.” It was great reading the comments and reminiscing on all the good times.
All in all, I had an amazing birthday :)
