Crazy Answered Prayers & Blessings: Story #1
SCENARIO: THURSDAY JULY 14, 12:48 AM.
My brother and I currently are $780 away from the total amount of $4200 we have to raise to go to Poland. It’s 12:48 a.m. and I’m writing a last-minute support letter to friends and family. As I’m typing out the email, God puts it on my heart to write this:
“Please pray that my brother and I would raise the rest of the funds soon (I pray in faith that it will happen by the end of tomorrow).”
As I typed that last part in bold out, I think to myself, “Haha…yeah right. $780 in a day? That will never happen!” I think about deleting it, but for some reason I leave it. I finish the email, send it, shut my laptop, and go to sleep.
THE NEXT DAY:
I wake up and find two email responses sitting in my inbox. Both are from people from my church back home: one wanted to donate $40, the other $200!
I get dressed and meet a couple of friends at Louisa’s Place (amazing breakfast joint in SLO). While there, I get another email. This one’s from another lady I know from church: “I’d love to support you guys with $250.” Crazy!
I get home from breakfast and get a text from a friend: “Hey…I want to support you guys $50!” Another text comes in right after: “Hey Ty…I’m gonna support you and your bro $100.” What the…!
Later that day, I finish packing up for Poland/packing up my house (my roommates and I are moving to a different house in SLO). As I’m about to leave to drive home to Sacramento, I get an email: $50!
I get back to El Dorado Hills around 11:45 p.m.
My brother comes and meets me outside. The last he heard, we still had over $2000 left to raise (he had been helping out the youth group for a couple weeks at a conference so he hadn’t gotten to check our money situation).
“So how far away are we?” he asked.
I calculated it out and shook my head in disbelief.
“Dude…we’re 10 dollars away.”
He looked at me, jaw dropped, “Shut up.”
“Dude…no joke.”
Really God?! Are you kidding me? $780 all the way down to $10! In one day too!! That’s nuts!!
THE STORY DOES NOT END THERE:
My brother looks at me.
“Dude…so I got something in the mail earlier today. It’s from Cal Poly.”
Background: so this year, my brother is going to be a residential advisor in the dorms for the freshmen.
“Okay…” I say.
“So it has something to do with “R.A.”ing and laundry…and it’s a check.”
“Yeah…”
“It’s $10.”
Disbelief. Awe. Shock. Unreal. God.
Recap:
Five hours before we left for Poland, God had raised exactly (not a dollar more or a dollar less) than the $4200 we needed to raise for the trip.
You cannot tell me that was by chance.
You cannot tell me that we got lucky.
This was God’s doing! I had doubted his ability to do it not less than 24 hours before, but he proved me wrong. When my brother told me about that $10 check, I couldn’t help but just look up to the sky, smile and say, “God, now you’re just showing off!”
